The Importance of Technology in Business Growth
Shreeva Global Ventures · 5 November 2026 · 2 min read
Technology matters to business growth because growth is a promise to deliver the same quality to more people, or a better service to the people you already have. That promise needs memory, coordination and a way to see what is slipping. Software can provide those. It cannot choose the promise.
Repeatability before novelty
A growing firm does not first need a remarkable interface. It needs a reliable way to take an enquiry, do the work, and know it was done. Web applications, simple business systems and clear integrations earn their place here. A mobile app earns its place only when the task truly happens on a phone. Novelty that does not change delivery is a cost centre with better lighting.
Visibility is a growth tool
Owners often meet growth as a feeling: busier, then suddenly late. A modest operational view — open work, ageing items, the step where things wait — turns that feeling into a decision. Analytics at this stage is not a data-science programme. It is the discipline of recording the facts once and reading them without rebuilding a spreadsheet.
There is a trap in the other direction. Dashboards can multiply while the underlying records stay poor. Technology helps growth when the record is something the team updates because their own work depends on it.
Build, buy, or wait
Custom software is justified when the way you work is the advantage, and a standard product would bend that way of working until it disappears. A standard product is justified when the process is common and the vendor’s path is acceptable. Waiting is justified when the process itself is not yet stable. Building software around a process that changes every week freezes the confusion.
- If the process is still being invented, consult and stabilise it before commissioning a build.
- If the process is common, look seriously at products that already exist.
- If the process is distinctive and stable, a custom system can carry growth better than a pile of tools.
Shreeva’s technology and consulting practices exist to have that conversation without a preference for the most expensive answer. Growth is protected by fit, not by the volume of technology purchased.
